When Niki Singh founded Saliense LLC, she was truly the Chief Everything Officer. In large part, she was a one-woman shop, responsible for doing everything, and laser-focused on getting the job done well. That was five years ago.
By August 2020, her one-woman shop was ranked number 225 on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. With that type of recognition and performance, more opportunities are coming and individual efforts – no matter how Herculean they are – will no longer support the trajectory Saliense is tracking. Building an organization that is postured to grow, with standardized processes to deliver client’s needs every time, on-time, will. Niki laid a strong foundation for Saliense by earning the respect of her peers and clients. Through strategic hiring, she is assembling a rock star team to continue to scale our business capabilities. The natural next step in the maturity of the company is to solidify our processes to ensure we’re adopting industry best practices to provide high-caliber and efficient services consistently.
One of the means to demonstrate corporate maturity is to pursue industry-standard certifications. After an intense 6-month effort, Saliense earned Capability Mature Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 certification on 1 Feb 2021.
Team members throughout the company worked collaboratively with our certification partner to detail how we execute our business. Our certification partners guided the Saliense team through reviews of core and service practice areas. The Core practice area review covered 17 components including Process Management, Requirements Development & Management, Managing Performance & Measurement, and Governance. Because the goal of Saliense is to provide superior service to our clients, the review also covered our ability to manage Delivery and Strategic Services.
What does this really mean to Saliense clients, corporate teammates, and our employees? Future and current clients should view this as an independent endorsement of our ability to deliver consistent, beneficial services. Likewise, potential partner organizations can be assured Saliense is an organization that will live up to their agreements through thoughtful planning and effective execution. Future and current employees will be confident in their roles with the company and their performance expectations because the training and evaluation processes are in place to guarantee success.
Completing the CMMI certification process gave Saliense a clear picture of where the company is right now and areas of opportunity for increased maturity. This organization is committed to being a company unsatisfied with the status quo and driven to evolve and improve our processes. Achieving this assessment level is an important step, but certainly not the last one for us.
